It’s not often that we can say of a 99-year-old,
It appears that everyone in the globe was anticipating Betty White’s 100th birthday celebration on January 17.
Although many people were saddened to learn of her passing, she nevertheless lived such a full life!
It feels like a time for celebration, and we have SO much stuff preserved in digital archives that can make us cry or laugh uncontrollably.
Let’s take a look at a video that captures one of this icon’s funniest moments ever!
Since 1975, American television has shown SNL (Saturday Night Live).
If you can believe it, the show is live-filmed on Saturday night in front of an audience.
They have a team of writers that typically write monologues and sketches based on current events.
In addition, they cast famous people in key roles in their skits. Frequently, seeing a famous person in a humorous role on Saturday Night Live adds to the appeal, especially when their comedy has a strong emotional resonance.
Betty White appeared in a 2013 SNL comedy titled “Census Taker vs. Old Lady”!
The comedy centers on a young woman (Tina Fey) who approaches an elderly woman’s door and knocks (Betty White).
What was she trying to accomplish? to record her information for the US Census Bureau.
Things take a hilarious turn when Betty shows up in her blue robe.
Introductions are made first, but as soon as the talk begins, Betty is done!
Being a government employee must be incredibly difficult when dealing with senior people!
“I have a few inquiries regarding the 2010 Census form that you never returned.”
Will I need a calculator, then, sweetie? Because I have one, even though I removed the batteries. There’s little doubt that this won’t be simple.
Then comes some fundamental questions about her.
“How many people live here?”
“Zero.”
“Zero?”
“Oh, including me? Three.”
Excellent writing. Each of us has experience dealing with senior citizens. Sometimes what they say is just illogical!
Additionally, given where they are in life, they don’t really care about anything you have to say; they don’t really care whether it makes sense.
Which one really appeals to me? the last name.
Tina Fey asks Betty White for her last name and her response is hilarious.
“Blaawrfinguile”
Fey, clearly confused, responds:
“Can you spell that for me?”
To which White responds:
“Of course. S-M-I-T-H.”
The enthusiasm that White brings to the entire skit is what makes this video so fantastic!
You can have lines, for sure, but why would you give them your own energy? It need a true expert.
Betty was about as professional as they come considering how long she had been playing the game.
We sincerely wish she had stayed with us a little while longer, but we are grateful for everything she provided us.
