The gift of a lifetime was given to an Australian expectant mother at the very moment she needed it the most.
All of Amanda’s dreams, she believed, were finally coming true. After three years of trying to conceive, Amanda told her husband they were expecting their first child. They acquired a house in anticipation and started adjusting to their new life.
The young woman from Sydney was living the best life when her world suddenly came crashing down. Out of the blue, her husband announced that he was leaving her. Suddenly, Amanda was left alone with a new baby on the way and a house to pay for.
When Amanda’s close friend Anna enlisted the aid of a nearby radio station, she had reached her lowest point. Anna requested that Amanda be taken into consideration for KIIS 1065’s well-liked “Giveback” program in a letter.
The appeal was successful, and Anna and Amanda soon appeared on the radio to share their tragic tale. She was unaware that the radio station had already been hard at work as Amanda described the tremendous difficulties of dealing with the uncertainties of the situation.
The host instructed Amanda to turn to face the video monitor when she had completed sharing her experience with the audience. There was a live feed of Amanda’s house on the monitor. When Amanda discovered that her house had been crammed with a variety of gifts to aid her on her adventure, she broke down in tears.
The gifts included a vacuum cleaner, which stood for six months of free housekeeping, daily lunches for the following three months, $4,000 worth of baby supplies, and $10,000 in cash, which was hidden as a special surprise inside the oven.
Amanda was obviously incredibly moved by the kindness of strangers. She was speechless as tears fell down her face and she struggled to say enough thanks.
