Man’s Sultry Rendition Of Elvis Hit So Captivating Forces Judge To Slam The Golden Buzzer

Thirty-eight-year-old Barry Darcy of Cork, Ireland appeared on Ireland’s Got Talent not just to wow the panel of judges and the audience with his impressive vocals; but he also took the opportunity to share his life-changing experience and serve as a living inspiration to all watching that the toughest ordeals can be survived with enough optimism, resilience, and strength. His cool and calm demeanor did not give any hints to the experience he went through a few years bacck. When Barry went onstage, music mogul Louis Walsh initiated the conversation which led to the contestant discussing the dreadful situation he was in.

“I had a herniated disc in my back and it crushed the nerves into my legs. I just went to get out of bed one day and fell out on to the floor. They gave me a fifty-fifty chance of ever walking again, and I took it.”

Imagine waking up one day and being told you didn’t have much of a chance of walking on your two feet again. It was an experience that amplified Barry’s love and appreciation for his wife and children, and the fact that he still had a way of pushing past the obstacle. He spoke of his wife’s strength and support with so much emotion and pride and even referred to them as ‘a solid, solid unit.’

The talented survivor was asked about his song choice. He replied by saying he chose “The Wonder of You” by Elvis Presley and explained that the lyrics perfectly captured how he felt towards his wife and their children. What was amazing about his performance wasn’t just that his singing voice sounded similar to that of the King of Rock. It was the cool and confident way he sung each word and how at ease he was onstage for the duration of the entire song. In fact, Barry’s singing was so good that he had the judges and the audience swaying and clapping along.

His stage presence, attitude, and the way he hit the high notes flawlessly were the cherry on top of an amazing act. His family, watching proudly from backstage, along with the rest of the judges, were caught by surprise as Louis Walsh stood up from his seat after raving about Barry’s singing talent. Without so much of a second thought, Louis Walsh hit the Golden Buzzer, bringing Barry to tears and causing his family to run onstage to engulf him in hugs.

Meeting challenges head on and with faith and a positive attitude makes the seemingly impossible, possible.

Barry proves that an attitude of gratitude wins over the toughest circumstances every time. Not only was his vocals a hit but his personality and emotion made a lasting impression on not only the judges but the audience as well.
