Celtic Thunder Sets New Standard With Their Version Of Christmas “Hallelujah”

With the holidays only a few weeks away, it’s time to strap into the season and start the festivities. But, before you get overwhelmed by wrapping presents and cooking for hours-on-end, you should stop to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

The hustle and bustle is just a distraction from the power of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, the men of Celtic Thunder are here to bring the holiday back into focus. With their powerful rendition of “Hallelujah,” our minds are all snapped back into place and we’re ready to celebrate His life.

Before Celtic Thunder was a world famous group trotting the globe, they were singers with a passion for their culture. Being able to perform and tour together is something vocalist Damian McGinty told AXS that is a dream come true.

McGinty said:

“Every day you get to travel to a new and different city, but every night you have to do the same task –deliver a high standard of performance. So on a daily basis, it’s never the same, but at the same time, you have to continue to challenge yourself…

Our musical director, David Munro, brings a wealth of material and knowledge. He has a big say in creating what goes into the shows and records. David knows our voices and only picks material that he knows we can deliver both as individuals and as an ensemble. But there’s no magic formula. You start by stripping it all back to the fundamentals and then building the foundation from the ground up. That means getting all of the guys around the piano and determining which voice part works best for each person…”

“Celtic Thunder has really grown and has turned into something that has its own life. It allows artists to be individuals as well as challenges them to come together as an ensemble piece. It’s something we’re all very passionate about. We’ve only done a few shows for this tour but it’s already been incredible and the reaction has been outstanding.”

Now, they’re ready to show the world what they’ve got with their rendition of “Hallelujah.” The men use their breathtaking voices to meet at perfect harmony – working their way through Leonard Cohen’s iconic lyrics and bringing some of the audience members to tears at the same time.

Who would’ve thought that they could breathe new life into such a well-covered track, all while reminding us of the importance of the Christmas season?

Thank you, Celtic Thunder!
