Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks recently took up this task. The two made the job appear simple. In 1988, Tom Hanks had an appearance in the film “Big.” A much younger Hanks leapt onto a huge piano in one scene of the movie and played the instrument with his feet while dazzling the audience with a fantastic version of chopsticks. Hanks’ admirers still vividly recall the sequence from his films from thirty years ago.
Today, Hanks frequently answers questions about the moment from “Big” in interviews. When Hanks appeared on the Jonathan Ross program in 2013 to promote his most recent film, “Captain Phillips,” the topic was brought up.
Ross did not merely inquire about the scene during the funny portion from Hanks. He asked Hanks if he would entertain the audience by playing a large piano that was lying on the floor nearby. Hanks generously consented and gave the crowd a brief excerpt from “Heart And Soul.” Ross joined in the fun and tried out a few “Chopsticks” notes.
Ross stepped away, allowing Hanks to once more dazzle the throng on his own. The audience liked the fast song he played. But everyone was eager to see Hanks perform “Chopsticks” and reenact the amazing sequence from “Big.”
To offer what the audience desired, Hanks needed a partner. Sandra Bullock, who was a guest on the show as well, surprisingly agreed to perform with Hanks. Bullock and Hanks are pals who have worked on films together in the past. Bullock was more than willing to help Hanks, but she was standing there in a pair of high heels with spikes. Hanks didn’t believe she could play the piano while sporting the shoes.
Hanks worries that she won’t be able to play “Chopsticks” while wearing heels in the video. He is reassured by Bullock that she can. And Bullock stunned everyone by playing the piano with them, despite the fact that most people would find it difficult to walk in those high heels. The two gave an amazing performance, which the audience loved immensely.
The fact that two of their favorite performers collaborated to recreate the iconic movie moment was praised by many commenters.
Bullock and Hanks appeared to have no trouble using their feet to play the piano. You can watch their incredible performance that they gave the viewers of the Jonathan Ross show below. You will undoubtedly be as awestruck as those who witnessed the concert in person.
