A young puppy that is only a few weeks old is discovered in a dirt lot where it is surrounded by trash and other rubbish. She does not have a home to speak of, much less a bed in which she may curl up and feel safe and secure. The tiny black and white puppy is unable to escape the searing heat of the sun because it is too uncomfortable. We have little choice but to presume that everything is pretty much the same as the nights become more chilly, dark, and lonely.
She is, for some inexplicable reason, restrained by large, hefty concrete blocks and a chain that is significantly heavier than she is. She has mange and intestinal parasites, both of which are causing her discomfort, and she can hardly hold her head up. It would take a monster to coerce any animal, much less a puppy, into living in conditions as awful as those described here.
However, because of PETA’s efforts, this young dog, who is now known as Andie, was able to have a happy ending to her story. Andie has now found her “forever” home with her very own devoted and loving family. She lives indoors and is a much-loved pet that has a home.
During the night, she enjoys the coziness of her own bed, which is surrounded on all sides by her many recent acquisitions. During the day, she enjoys herself with her folks and her cat brother or sisters, reveling in the life she is able to lead now that she is free from suffering and isolation.
For someone who has a soft spot in their heart for animals, it’s difficult to fathom the kind of person who would do something like this to a puppy. The fact remains, however, that there are people in the world who perpetrate crimes of this nature on a regular basis. In order to limit the number of unwanted litters, it is up to the rest of us to promote adoption and spay and neuter programs.
Education and awareness of the treatment of animals are another crucial component. And last, if you want to assist more dogs like Andie receive their own happy ending, you might think about donating to a pet rescue or charity of your choosing.
