Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, who played members of the “Breakfast Club,” got together for supper over 38 years after the film’s initial release…

Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy are going to have dinner together instead of going to detention.

The iconic teen film directed by John Hughes and starring both of these ladies are known as “The Breakfast Club.” Nearly 38 years after the film’s initial release in February 1985, the original members of the Brat Pack got together for a reunion that Molly Ringwald described as an “early Christmas present.”

On Sunday, Molly Ringwald, now 54 years old, took to Instagram to share a snapshot of herself and her so-called “psychic sister Ally” giving each other a bear embrace for the camera as they dined at Cafe Luxembourg in New York City.

Many of Ringwald’s fans, such as the musician Cat Powers and Susannah Hoffs of the Bangles, expressed their happiness at the reunion.

Nia Vardalos, who starred in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, reacted to the news by writing “Squeal!!!!!!!!,” and a number of fans voiced their support for a Breakfast Club sequel.

“My heart just skipped a beat!” exclaimed a Gen Xer. Read the following comment: “This is just such a wonderful sight to behold!”

Sheedy, who is now 60 years old, and Ringwald have both made a few public appearances in the decades since the premiere of their picture alongside their former co-stars. At the MTV Movie Awards in 2005, the actresses, who played the roles of misfit Allison and “princess” Claire, respectively, in the detention drama, were joined by Anthony Michael Hall, who played the role of Brian, and Paul Gleason, who played the role of Vice Principal Vernon. They paid tribute to their late director John Hughes alongside Judd Nelson and Hall at the 2010 Academy Awards. This was five years after the fact (Bender). Sheedy and Ringwald both made appearances at SXSW in 2015, the year that marked the 30th anniversary of the picture.
