A woman converts an old railroad trailer from 1985 into the coziest tiny house for herself…

Hannah Doss, a teacher and artist, used to frequently move in and out of homes, especially while she was a college student and working for her master’s degree.

Every time I moved, it would be to a different state, and I would have no friends there, she remarked. I was looking for roommates on Craigslist at the time. I had a lot of fascinating encounters with my roommates from Craigslist, so I decided to stop doing it.

She also understood that she needed to make a change because she was paying a hefty sum for rent.

Hannah thought of creating a tiny house, but with a lot of help from her father, she was able to transform an old railroad trailer into a charming little house.

She learned about surplus auctions from her father, who spent 20 years working for the railroad. She set her maximum bid there at $350.

Although it might not seem like much, somehow it was enough to buy a forgotten vintage railroad wagon from 1985. Even though the old railroad trailer was only 232 square feet, Hanna thought it was exactly what she needed at the time.

Hannah promptly got to work converting the old railroad trailer into her residence, which she named Journey.

Her parents’ property served as the site of the restoration. Fortunately, her parents were not only eager to host the restoration project but also to provide a helping hand.

This reduced the cost of the construction as well as the time needed to finish the tiny home project.

Hannah’s complete effort ultimately cost her about $9,000. I had hoped to spend $6,000, but I wound up shelling out $9,000 for the entire thing, Hannah said. I ultimately spent $9,000 on the total renovation and furnishings.

Fortunately, she was able to turn the old railroad trailer into a lovely home with the assistance of her parents and friends. Otherwise, she would have needed to spend an additional $10,000 to hire a professional.

Despite the short distance, Hannah and her dad put a lot of effort into making the old railroad trailer into a comfortable home.

The house was designed to be as energy-efficient as possible so that someday size wouldn’t even matter.

The little house on wheels has a charming mountain mural and is painted a nice, light blue color. Hannah and her partner can make their meals in the kitchen there. Additionally, there is a modest workspace with a beautiful view of the outside.

The pair can effortlessly transform a couch into a bed to sleep on at night. The restroom can hold its own against any restroom in a regular house.

On the other side, Hannah’s artistic nature is reflected in the musical instruments and vinyl records in the living room.

The old train trailer was transformed into such a fascinating home, full of money-saving features and creative architectural touches.

Hannah says that she has always been glad to show off Journey when people have asked to view the inside.

She even created a children’s book about Journey, an antique railroad trailer that a little girl and her family preserved and transformed into something lovely.

Three and a half years ago, Journey came to an end, and Hannah’s modest house became her legal residence. In order to settle in Lake Tahoe, California, she drove it cross-country.

Hannah, her man, and her dog now reside in the former historic train trailer. “I live in a park’s employee housing and work for California State Parks. I live in a lovely home a mile from Lake Tahoe’s shoreline, a house I could never afford if I had to work a regular job and pay for a spot, she said.

The three have subsequently been on numerous travels with Journey because they really adore and cherish their mobile home. In the video below, you can take a tour of Hannah’s house:
