After the paparazzi noticed Chrissy Metz wearing a ring on that finger, engagement rumors began to circulate. Several years after Metz’s 2014 divorce from her ex-husband, the suspicions surfaced.
For her part as Kate Pearson in the family drama “This Is Us,” Chrissy Metz is well-known. She has received numerous honors for her performance, including two nominations for the Golden Globes, an Emmy nomination, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Given that Metz is at the top of her game, it makes sense that fans would be curious about her personal life, particularly who she has dated or is dating as well as her former marriage to and divorce from British playwright Martyn Eaden.
When Eaden lived in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, Metz and Eaden connected using a dating app. The couple maintained a long-distance romance for over a year, with Eaden traveling to Metz’s home in France.
The pair later got married in a tiny ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, a year after Eaden proposed to her. Because they lacked the money to travel, neither of the couple’s relatives went to the event.
Described in full in her 2018 memoir “This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today,” Metz’s marriage fell apart. Both of them were career-driven and uncomfortable sharing personal information with one another.
Metz’s attitude toward her physique was one of their relationship’s major points of friction. She had started going to Overeating Anonymus, and Metz did not like how Eaden had started going on hikes with a female coworker.
She added that she was trying to take control of her relationship with her body and break her comfort-eating habit since she felt bad about her anger toward her husband. But it had an impact on how she spent time with Eaden:
“I was making a valiant effort to overcome the habit of eating my feelings and connecting eating with showing affection. Without it, I had no idea how to interact with Marty.”
Following a visit to Eaden’s parents, the couple ultimately decided to get a divorce. Eaden had called her “selfish” and “narcissistic” because she made everything about herself when Metz had asked him if he still wanted to be with her.
Nickiswift claims that Eaden filed for divorce in November 2014, but Metz never replied. He asked the judge to grant him an uncontested divorce, and in December 2015, the judge granted his request.
Metz and Eaden remained friends and even frequently texted each other updates on their lives, unlike many divorced couples who move on with their lives separately.
Metz acknowledged that she still cares about and loves her ex-husband. She is devoted to and making an effort to become a better ex-wife than a wife.
The “American Horror Story” alum’s love life has continued after her divorce. She dated other guys instead, including cameraman Josh Stancil. The former couple became acquainted while filming “This Is Us.”
Prior to her appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show” in 2018 and her admission that she was dating herself, Stancil and Metz had been dating for more than a year. She did, however, admit that they were still close: “It’s vital to me that I always remain friends with individuals from my past, you know? due of your concern for the individual. You don’t simply throw them away.”
The star of “This Is Us” did not remain alone for long because during that year, she began dating composer Hal Rosenfeld. People Magazine confirmed their romance when photographers saw them together at The Living Room for Jazz Night.
Rosenfeld and Metz appeared to enjoy and value their time together. She invited him to Palm Springs for her 38th birthday. On Instagram, Metz posted pictures of the festivities, including one of her snuggled up against his side with the message, “Reminiscing about one wonderful birthday weekend with a few special people at such a special spot.”
Later, Rosenfeld praised her on his own Instagram, writing that he was thankful for the wonderful, kind, and supporting woman in his life and including a couple nice pictures of the two of them together.
But in June 2019, when Metz posted a mysterious remark on her Instagram account and claimed she was learning to be open, see various perspectives, and change, rumors that the couple had split up started to circulate.
The quote, however, suggested that Metz and Rosenfeld had passed away. According to the remark, once the “Honeymoon” period of a relationship has passed, the individual must choose whether they want to love the “human individual” or end the connection.
It appears that Metz made the decision to end her friendship with the composer. She is currently dating Bradley Collins, and the two seem to be enjoying each other based on their frequent internet gushing.
Metz is not ashamed to reveal that Collins and she met on the well-known dating app Bumble. The couple immediately discovered they had more in common than they had initially believed after exchanging a few messages.
Collins works in the music publishing industry and Metz is a singer, so it’s likely that they have shared a room and pals for some time but have never met.
In honor of National Boyfriend Day in October 2020, Metz made their relationship official on Instagram. She posted a sweet picture of the couple kissing with the caption:
“My ideal partner, happy #nationalboyfriendday! Bradley, as soon as I set eyes on you, I knew I had to get to know you.”
She continued, “I feel fortunate to love him and was smitten, or fans might use the hashtag #Collinsmesmitten.” Collins has shown his affection for his great actress girlfriend in an open and honest manner.
The native of Nashville said that after their first date, he was “Metzmerized with love, laughing, and generosity.” It’s understandable why there were rumors of an engagement given the couple’s numerous public expressions of affection for one another.
On The Covino & Rich Show on SiriusXM, Metz made it known that she was not engaged. The ring, which outlets mistook for an engagement ring because of its honeycomb shape, was actually a Christmas present from Collins.
Collins and Metz are not wed and have not made public statements about their future plans. Time will ultimately determine whether or not this happy pair will eventually walk down the aisle together.
