Family struggles to make ends meet, so Secret Santa surprises them with life-changing gift

With the busy festive period in full swing most of us are caught up in the rush of getting everything we need for the big day.

It’s an expensive time of year and the strain can put a lot of added pressure on those families who are already struggling to just keep a roof over their heads.

The Crow family had suffered a string of hardships which began when dad Brad suffered an injury working on their dream home, which led to his leg being amputated.

As a result he was forced to take a year off work leaving his wife as the sole breadwinner working as a school bus driver.

Living in a camp trailer

If this wasn’t enough stress to endure the couple and their two adopted children also had to stay living in their chilly camp trailer inside of a shop as plans to build their dream home were put on hold.

Life was a a real struggle for the Crow family, from Idaho, until a Secret Santa showed up one day with a surprise that would turn their lives around in ways they never expected.

Brad was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma when he was 14 years old and had to undergo harsh rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.

He also had to have one of his leg bones removed and replaced with cadaver bone.

Fast forward to 2018 and Brad and his wife Erica set to work building their own dream home but their plans were abruptly halted when Brad fractured his leg.

“After that we found out he had another disease and he had to have his hip replaced,” Erica told Inside Edition.

It was a struggle that their family couldn’t ignore, and Erica’s sister contacted their local news station to appeal for help for the couple through its Secret Santa program.

According to EastIdahoNews.com Secret Santa is a “real person who wants to remain anonymous and wants to help as many people as he can.”

With help from the news station those local families that need it most are gifted with a share of half a million dollars.

For the Crow family they received the life-changing gift of $50,000 for home improvements and a year of health insurance cover.
