On Instagram, Meyers, 72, wrote, “So many DM’s about this — sorry but it’s not true,” alongside a screen grab from an article reporting that a sequel was getting made with the original main cast all returning, including Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black. The article also stated that Meyers would be returning as the director of the film.

In an interview, Kate Winslet, who is in the midst of promoting Avatar: The Way of Water, dismissed the idea as well, saying, “I did some reading on that topic, but this is the first time I’ve actually heard of it. I solemnly swear that not a single representative, agent, or any other individual from the initial group has ever discussed that topic with me in any capacity. To the best of my knowledge, that has never been discussed.”
This statement from Meyers comes only a few days after a performance of “The Holiday in Concert” in London, which the director was unable to attend but posted a video from on her Instagram Story on Monday.
In the movie “The Holiday,” a heartbroken movie-trailer producer named Amanda (played by Diaz, 50) offers up her mansion in Los Angeles so that she can spend the holidays somewhere else. In response, a similarly depressed columnist named Iris (played by Winslet, 47) offers up her home in the English countryside.
Amanda develops feelings for Iris’ widower brother Graham (Law, 49), a book editor, while Iris develops feelings for film composer Miles (Black, 53), a friend of Amanda’s ex-boyfriend. Both of these events take place during their visits to one other.
In an interview that took place in December 2019 with Variety, Jack Black momentarily forgot that he starred in The Holiday after a reporter from the publication asked him his favorite Christmas movie, and he initially answered Elf. The reporter from Variety had asked Black about his favorite Christmas movie.
“Do I have a movie that deals with Christmas? Whose is it and where is it?” Black asked, before realizing his folly. “Oh, the joys of the holiday! The Holiday, without a doubt!”
He continued by saying, “Nancy Meyers is a genius.”
Box Office Mojo states that The Holiday was a somewhat successful film in theaters when it was first released, grossing more than $200 million worldwide in ticket sales despite having a budget of only $85 million.
Although it has a score of 51% on Rotten Tomatoes, its audience score is 80% on the website; in addition, the movie is still even inspiring certain real-life activities that are comparable to the plot of the movie.
After Flo Patterson, who lives in Bath, England, responded to a video uploaded by Grace Gagnon, in which the latter offered up her own waterfront apartment in Boston for the duration of the Christmas season, the two women decided to trade residences for the duration of the holiday season.
Patterson remarked on the TODAY show that she was hosting Gagnon at her English house and referred to their relationship as “a match made in heaven.” “If anything, it was Grace who made me fall in love. In any event, we will always have each other at the end of this.”
The attitude was mirrored by Gagnon, who went on to add that they intended to have “frequent get-togethers scheduled for the foreseeable future: “She’ll come to Boston, and we’ll just hang out there, and I’ll come to England, and we’ll do the same thing there.” Already, I feel a deep attachment to her family.”
